Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia seeks an Information Technology Manager for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA). The IT Manager will supervise IT Support Specialists, ensuring top-notch support for desktop and mobile hardware and software to DRIA coaches and staff.

The role plans and leads DRIA hardware lifecycle and IT/AV infrastructure development, partnering with ISC, and developing IT policies, vendor relationships, and DRIA governance alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Customer-focus and excellent interpersonal skills in a busy environment.
  • Experience leading technical staff and multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Associate AD/Director of Financial and ITOperations, this position serves as Information Technology Manager for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA). The IT Manager will supervise one or more IT SupportSpecialists in providing excellent technical support for desktop/mobile hardware and software to all DRIA coaches and staff, ensuring all incoming IT and AV issues and customer servicerequests are met. This position will plan and lead DRIA hardwarelifecycle and long-term IT / AV infrastructure strategy anddevelopment. They will also partner with the University's centralIT organization (ISC) in addressing the division's technology andAV needs, maintaining awareness of and participating in campus ITgovernance and advisory groups. Responsibilities include planningand providing a secure and robust desktop/mobile environment inalignment with University policies and standards, supportingcapital projects and events in DRIA facilities, and supportingspecialized technology applications and related AV systems. Otherkey tasks include providing day-to-day technical support to DRIAcoaches and staff directly; regular communications within thedivision regarding IT and AV services and expectations; developingand maintaining DRIA IT policies, processes, and best practices;managing vendor relationships; and keeping up to date on ISC'scurrent resources and innovations. Duties may be required outsideof business hours to respond to priority issues and events.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to DRIA coaches and staffdirectly.
  • Supervise one or more IT Support Specialists in providingexcellent technical support for desktop/mobile hardware andsoftware to all DRIA coaches and staff, ensuring all incoming ITand AV issues and customer service requests are met.
  • Maintain and manage production hardware and software for theDRIA hardware life-cycle.
  • Lead DRIA's partnership with the University's central ITorganization (ISC) in addressing the division's technologyneeds.
  • Engage the end user population and build partnerships with keystakeholders in order to understand IT / AV needs and informstrategic planning. Issue regular communications within theDivision regarding IT and AV services and expectations; develop andmaintain DRIA IT policies, processes, and best practices; managevendor relationships; and keep up to date on ISC's currentresources and innovations.
  • Create and maintain IT / AV documentation for all athleticfacilities, including SOPs and system manuals. This includespreventative maintenance for venue AV and game operations systemsin DRIA facilities prior to the beginning of each season. Providesupport for IT / AV investment in capital projects.
  • Oversee long-term IT / AV infrastructure strategy anddevelopment in DRIA facilities including troubleshooting, repairs,and long-term planning for DRIA's connection to the University'sfiber network / infrastructure.
  • Provide onsite IT / AV support for men's and women's basketballgames, football games, The Penn Relays, and select external events;on-call for all other events / venues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience orequivalent combination of education and experience isrequired.
  • Demonstrated customer-focus and excellent interpersonal skillswith the ability to address and prioritize customer needs within abusy and complex environment.
  • Previous experience managing technical staff and multipleprojects at once. Relevant experience with Microsoft Windows10,macOS, O365 as well as familiarity with Dell, Apple, and Androidproducts is necessary.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and VMWare Workspace Onepreferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsrequired.
  • Experience in athletics or higher education preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
