Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in East Chicago, Indiana. These are temporary, part-time roles hired each semester to provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi.

  • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher in information technology as appropriate to the program; or two years of in-field professional employment and documented IT teaching excellence.
  • Alternative routes include related master’s degree with IT documentation or bachelor’s degree with two years’ IT experience and related documentation.

  • Perform instructional duties to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course being taught and follow syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain attendance and grading records per college policy.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class times and address concerns.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. This is an in person position Pay Range- $47.35 per contact hour.

PROGRAM OPERATION
  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to college policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
STUDENTS
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
INSTRUCTION
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
  • Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Candidates must upload a copy of their unofficial transcripts (all available) in order to be considered for faculty roles. A qualified faculty member in Information Technology Support (ITSP) meets the program standard through one of three routes: Possesses an earned master's degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology as appropriate to the program; or Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant additional information technology coursework beyond the bachelor's degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military; or Possesses an earned bachelor's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of teaching excellence in information technology, including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant information technology coursework in addition to the bachelor's degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
