Overview

As an Information Systems Technician (IT) in the U.S. Navy, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, managing, and securing the vital networks and information systems that keep Navy ships, submarines, and aircraft operating at peak performance. From managing satellite communications to protecting sensitive military data, the role ensures that communication lines remain open and secure at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Management & Administration: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot various communication networks and systems aboard ships, submarines, and aircraft, including LAN setups and satellite communication systems.
  • Cybersecurity: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, including managing firewalls, encryption systems, and intrusion detection systems.
  • System Installation & Repair: Perform installations, repairs, and upgrades to ensure all communication technologies are fully operational.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and fix network failures and system errors quickly to minimize downtime and restore critical communication channels.
  • Collaboration: Work with other IT professionals, engineers, and military personnel to troubleshoot, improve, and deploy new network systems.
  • Training & Mentorship: Mentor junior technicians and share knowledge of network management and IT security as you grow in the role.
