Job description

Job Title: Information Systems Technician I – General Services

Join the Illinois Secretary of State as an Information Systems Technician I in the Systems & Programming division, located at 201 S 2nd St, Springfield, IL. This is a full-time, entry-level position within the government administration industry, offering a salary starting from $4,962 to $9,512 monthly, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing COBOL programs and interpreting existing code to understand logic flow.
  • Preparing comprehensive data processing documentation, including manuals, system architecture, flowcharts, and forms.
  • Assisting in the analysis and design of application programs and preparing conversion specifications.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of one year of college in computer science or 1.5 years of technical systems and programming experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Elementary knowledge of IT concepts, hardware, software, and programming languages.
  • Basic understanding of data capture and transmission devices, system documentation principles, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Willingness to travel and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
