Responsibilities

Position Overview

The ISSO is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system. The role involves close collaboration with the ISSM and ISO, managing security aspects of information systems, and handling physical, personnel security, incident response, and training. The position requires monitoring systems, updating authorization documentation, and assessing security impacts of changes, especially within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting DoD agencies such as HQ Air Force, OSD, and military compartments. The ISSO provides daily support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.

Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) II

• Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
• Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
• Ensure procedures are in place for hardware/media clearance, sanitization, and destruction.
• Notify the ISSM of changes affecting system authorization.
• Conduct periodic system reviews for compliance.
• Coordinate hardware/software modifications with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to changes.
• Monitor recovery processes to ensure security features are restored and functioning.
• Maintain current and accessible security documentation.
• Collect, review, and document audit records, including anomalies.
• Attend relevant technical and security training.
• Execute cybersecurity self-inspections and review system assessment plans.
• Identify vulnerabilities and assist with countermeasure implementation.
• Prepare security status reports.
• Support in-house and external customer security duties.
• Conduct security impact analyses for configuration changes.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 2 - 5 years related experience.
• Previous roles such as System, Network Administrator, or ISSO.
• SAP experience required (indicate number of SAP years at the top of the resume).

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4 years).

Certifications:

• Must meet DoD Directive 8570.01-M requirements for IA Technician Level II or IA Manager II.

Security Clearance:

• Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Eligibility for access to SAP information.
• Willingness to submit to a CI polygraph.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
