Description: The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) shall perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. They validate and verify system security requirements, establish system security designs, and develop, implement, or integrate IA and security systems and components across networking, computing, and enclave environments. The role involves building IA into operational systems, supporting security architecture development, enforcing trusted relations among external systems, and assessing and mitigating security threats throughout the program lifecycle. Responsibilities include reviewing certification and accreditation documentation, applying system security engineering expertise, and supporting security planning, assessment, and risk management activities.
