Job summary

Independent Software seeks an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support vulnerability management, security compliance, and continuous monitoring for mission-critical systems. You will configure Tenable.sc, Nessus, and Splunk, analyze findings, and drive remediation with system admins and ISSEs.

You will contribute to RMF, audits, and assessments, develop security dashboards and reports, and help maintain scanning policies and SOPs in a demanding 24x7 environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with vulnerability scanning and security compliance.
• Experience with Tenable.sc, Nessus, and Splunk.
• Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53.
• Knowledge of servers, virtualization, routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing, and network segmentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to respond to after-hours requests in a 24x7 environment.

Job description

What You Will Do:

At Independent Software, as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) you will support vulnerability management, security compliance, and continuous monitoring activities for mission-critical systems. You will configure and maintain Tenable.sc and Nessus, conduct vulnerability and STIG compliance scans, analyze security findings, and work with system administrators and ISSEs to support remediation efforts.

You will also use Splunk to correlate vulnerability and compliance data, develop security dashboards and reports, and support Risk Management Framework (RMF), audit, and assessment activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, operate, and maintain Tenable.sc and Nessus
• Conduct vulnerability and STIG compliance scans and troubleshoot scanning issues
• Analyze findings and coordinate remediation with system administrators and ISSEs
• Use Splunk to correlate security data and develop dashboards and compliance reports

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or related discipline; OR
• Associate’s degree in a related discipline, technical certification such as Security+, and two (2) years of general IT experience; OR
• High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of general IT experience, including at least one (1) year of information systems security experience

Federal Government ISSE experience of similar scope and complexity is desirable.

Certifications:

• Active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or IASAE Level I compliance required

Clearance Requirement:

• Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
