Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) III to join our team.

Note, this position is onsite in Colorado Springs, Colorado and requires an Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and a minimum of 2 years experience in special access programs (SAP).

Responsibilities

Position Overview: This ISSO position is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system, working in close collaboration with the ISSM and ISO.

The ISSO III is required to have an Active Top Secret Clearance with a minimum of 2 years experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAP) with SCI and SAP eligibility.

The primary function is working within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and Military Compartments efforts. The position will provide "day-to-day" support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities.

The position shall have the detailed knowledge and expertise required to manage the security aspects of an information system and, in many organizations, is assigned responsibility for the day-to-day security operations of a system. This includes physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. It will be required to work in close coordination with the ISSM and ISO in monitoring the information system(s) and its environment of operation, including developing and updating authorization documentation, implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries, assessing security impacts, and making recommendations to the ISSM.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities.
  • Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
  • Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media.
  • Notify ISSM when changes might affect the authorization of the information system(s).
  • Conduct periodic reviews of information systems for compliance.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, or firmware changes with the ISSM and AO / DAO prior to implementation.
  • Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features are properly restored.
  • Ensure all security documentation is current and accessible.
  • Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented.
  • Attend required technical and security training.
  • Execute cybersecurity self-inspections and provide security coordination and review of assessment plans.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and assist with implementing countermeasures.
  • Prepare security status reports.
  • Perform ISSO duties supporting in-house and external customers.
  • Conduct security impact analysis activities and provide updates to the ISSM on configuration changes.
Qualifications

Required Experience: 5 years related experience required; 7+ highly desired. Prior experience as a System, Network Administrator, or ISSO preferred.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience (4 years).

Certifications: Must meet DoD Directive 8570.01-M requirements for Information Assurance Manager Level II or Architect/Engineer Level I within 6 months of hire.

Clearance Requirements: Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility; 2 years experience with SAP; willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
