What you'll do

Keeping our systems, technology, and employees safe is a key priority for Viasat. As a member of the Information Assurance team, you will focus on the day-to-day information system security requirements, serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Information Assurance realm, and provide innovative solutions to complex problems.

The day-to-day
  1. Work independently as well as with a team of Information Assurance Professionals.
  2. Ensure Information System Compliance across multiple business areas or programs.
  3. Assess, document, and recommend controls based on a thorough understanding of RMF, NISPOM, and other regulatory requirements, and determine applicable controls for the application, documenting in the Security Controls Tractability Matrix (SCTM).
  4. Document compliance actions within the approved automated compliance tracking system or develop a Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) to address non-compliance.
  5. Participate in internal/external security audits/inspections; perform risk assessments and continuous monitoring.
  6. Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with the governing authority's approved authorization package and customer directives.
  7. Develop procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with Configuration Management (CM) for security-relevant software, hardware, and firmware.
  8. Ensure proper protection and corrective measures when an incident or vulnerability is discovered, following up to ensure resolution.
  9. Assess and revise policies and procedures to improve quality and efficiency, including performing regular self-inspections.
What you'll need
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  2. 3+ years as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in a DoD, IC, or other industrial security program, with an in-depth understanding of DoD 8500 series, NIST 800 series, ICD 503, JSIG, and DoD RMF process.
  3. Experience with vulnerability and compliance scanning tools (Nessus, SCAP, ACAS).
  4. Familiarity with network technologies (LAN & WAN) and best practices within a classified environment, including crypto and key management.
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (workstation & server), Linux, and system virtualization in a secure network environment.
  6. Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
  7. Interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with diverse groups.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and advanced problem-solving skills.
  9. Current DoD 8570.1/8140.01 Certification – Security+ CE minimum.
  10. Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
