The Sharon Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and tech-savvy individual to join the Adult Services Department as a full-time Information Services Librarian. The role reports to the Head of Adult and Technology Services and the Library Director. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a passion for serving a diverse community. This position offers opportunities to engage in various library activities, including programming, marketing, reference, technology, collection development, and strategic planning. The library's recent move to a new, spacious building provides access to modern technology, study and meeting rooms, and enhanced community engagement opportunities.
Responsibilities include assisting patrons with library resources, such as online databases, applications, and emerging technologies, providing readers' advisory services, and training patrons on computer equipment and devices. The role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing the library's website and digital resources, planning and conducting adult technology-focused programming, promoting library resources, participating in collection development, and possibly grant writing and strategic planning.
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association-accredited institution. Preferred candidates will have three to five years of professional experience in Adult Services or Reference Librarianship in a public library. Required experience includes maintaining and troubleshooting library computers, e-readers, and networking equipment. Supervisory experience is also required. Candidates should have experience in developing and coordinating adult programming within the library and the community, working in coordination with the Director and other staff.
