Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, CS, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including security engineering, client advisory, or consulting roles.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols, encryption, network architecture, and secure coding practices.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security). Familiarity with cloud security platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience in penetration testing, incident response, forensic investigations.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and frameworks (e.g., CMMC, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a consulting mindset.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement security solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and access controls.
  • Engage with clients to understand security needs, provide tailored recommendations, and develop actionable roadmaps.
  • Plan and deliver security-focused projects with timely implementation of solutions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify threats and recommend mitigations.
  • Lead and support investigation and resolution of security incidents, including root cause analysis.
  • Ensure organizational and client compliance with security frameworks and regulations (CMMC, CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to integrate security into system design, operations and processes.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training programs to enhance security awareness.
  • Research and implement the latest security technologies and methodologies to improve defenses.
  • Configure and manage security monitoring tools, analyze logs, and produce detailed reports for internal and client use.

The Information Security Systems Engineer is a key member of the Information Security Practice at Abacus Technologies, responsible for delivering cutting‑edge security solutions to protect organizational and client assets. This role blends technical expertise, client consulting, and project execution to address evolving security needs in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for helping clients achieve a secure and resilient infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Architecture & Design: Develop and implement security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, and secure access controls.
  • Client Advisory & Consulting: Engage with clients to understand their security needs, provide tailored recommendations, and develop actionable security roadmaps.
  • Project Execution: Plan and deliver security‑focused projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation of solutions that align with client objectives.
  • Threat Analysis & Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Research and implement the latest security technologies and methodologies to improve client and organizational defenses.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Configure and manage security monitoring tools, analyze logs, and produce detailed reports for internal and client use to maintain a robust security posture.
