THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5827200 and is part of the MD 175th ANG, National Guard. This is an indefinite position that may become permanent without further competition. Please see "Additional Information" section for more details.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the position is to administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)-associated security programs and measures and provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security. This position performs the following duties: Technical authority on all SCI security matters and all other areas of classified security and classification within the unit.

As principal advisor to the commander, reports on the organization's SSO and SCI, physical, computer, information, personnel, and administrative security. Provides oversight of unit and SSO security self-inspections and presents detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit commander. Follows up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies.

Assesses and revises policies and procedures to improve their quality, timeliness, and efficiency. Administers the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed. Tracks and administers SCI clearances for all in-processing personnel to ensure mission readiness. Terminates or transfers SCI clearances for out-processing personnel.

Represents the unit to a variety of installation and functional areas, including national-level organizations. Performs other duties as assigned.
