Job summary

Position Summary

As an AI Security Governance Operations Specialist within Optum Technology's Enterprise Information Security organization, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day execution of security governance and operational controls surrounding artificial intelligence technologies. Our team is dedicated to enabling safe, compliant, and innovative AI adoption across the enterprise by establishing operational discipline, proactive monitoring, and rigorous security workflows. In this role, you will execute the operational processes required to monitor AI solution compliance, validate control evidence, support policy enforcement, elevate risks, exceptions, incidents, and control gaps in accordance with AI Security Governance standards

Responsibilities
  • Monitor AI solution registration, ownership, lifecycle status, and approved use records to support compliance with authorized use requirements
  • Track required AI security reviews, risk treatments, and approval evidence before production deployment or material expansion
  • Conduct recurring compliance checks for approved platforms, models, APIs, tools, plug-ins, connectors, integrations, and third-party AI services
  • Review monitoring outputs and telemetry indicators for unauthorized use, activity outside approved use cases, security risk events, and control failures
  • Triage AI security alerts, policy violations, control exceptions, and emerging issues; elevate to leadership or responsible control owner for decision
  • Support incident response by performing root cause analysis to identify potential gaps in control design or performance
  • Maintain compliance monitoring workpapers, evidence repositories, issue logs, exception records, and operational metrics for governance reporting and audit readiness
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (i.e. application owners, platform owners, engineering, identity, data protection, vendor risk, and Responsible AI teams) to resolve compliance gaps and confirm closure evidence
  • Document operational activities, findings, and evidence thoroughly for audit, reporting, and compliance purposes
  • Provide frontline user and operational support related to AI security governance processes and inquiries

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • 3+ years in security operations, governance operations, risk management, compliance monitoring, or related technical roles
  • 2+ years of experience documenting operational activities, incident findings, or evidence for audit/compliance reporting
  • 1 year experience with AI governance, security monitoring, access controls, data protection, incident response, and change management processes
  • 1+ years experience reviewing control evidence, operational logs, alerts, telemetry, issue records, and exception documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • Knowledge or experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) governance frameworks, risk management, or security controls
  • Strong documentation discipline, attention to detail, and ability to follow defined procedures and escalation paths
  • Ability to coordinate across technical, governance, risk, and application teams to support timely remediation and audit-ready evidence

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
