Job summary

The University at Albany's Information Technology Services is actively seeking an Information Security Analyst/Engineer to safeguard critical infrastructure, institutional data, and research assets in a fast-paced, research-intensive environment.

You will work directly with the CISO and partner with network, systems, and application teams to handle IR, network defense, automation, and engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 3+ years in modern incident response (investigation, containment, remediation).
• 3+ years in network security (NGFW, IDS/IPS, segmentation).
• Experience collaborating with infra teams to implement security controls and improve processes.
• Experience with scripting or automation to improve detection/response.

Responsibilities

• Detect, respond to, and automate incident handling across endpoints, identity, and cloud workloads.
• Design, review, and maintain firewall policies and web app protections; document changes.
• Run vulnerability scans and automate tracking/remediation with owners.
• Support risk assessments, audits, and security awareness across campus.
• Develop scripts and automation workflows to support IR and network security.
