Job summary

The University at Albany's Information Technology Services (ITS) seeks an Information Security Analyst/Engineer to protect critical infrastructure, data, and research assets in a fast-paced, research-intensive environment.

You'll work directly with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and partner with network, systems, and application teams to handle incident response, network security, automation, and engineering—building scalable security systems while contributing across engineering,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 3 years of incident response experience including investigation and remediation.
• At least 3 years of network security experience with technologies such as next‑generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation.
• Experience collaborating with infrastructure, systems, or application teams to implement security controls.
• Experience with scripting/automation to improve detection and response.

Responsibilities

• Detect, respond to security incidents end-to-end and build automation playbooks.
• Monitor and triage security alerts across endpoints, identity, and cloud workloads.
• Design and maintain firewall policies and web protections.
• Develop scripts and automation workflows to support incident response and network security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve detections and preventive controls.
• Conduct risk assessments and support policy updates.
