Job summary

Perkins Coie LLP seeks an Information Governance Analyst to support the firm's information governance strategy, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five+ years in Information Governance/Records/Data Management, preferably in a law firm or professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of information governance principles and records lifecycle management.
  • Experience with records and document management systems and collaboration tools (Microsoft 365).
  • Ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and lead projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Information Governance strategy by implementing policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Partner with attorneys and business teams to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the lifecycle of physical and electronic records including retention, transfers, legal holds, and disposition.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to improve information management and efficiency.

  • Provide guidance to Information Governance Specialists and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance compliance, data management, and records governance.

What You'll Do
  • Support the firm's Information Governance strategy by implementing policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Partner with attorneys and business teams to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Manage the lifecycle of physical and electronic records, including retention, transfers, legal holds, and disposition.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that improve information management and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze data and reporting to identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate across the firm to strengthen information governance practices and support strategic initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to Information Governance Specialists and other stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance compliance, data management, and records governance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in Information Governance, Records Management, Data Management, or a related role, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of information governance principles, records lifecycle management, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with records and document management systems, Microsoft 365, and enterprise collaboration tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and lead projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Professional certifications such as Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Records Manager (CRM), or other related credentials are preferred.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, PowerShell, Python, or workflow automation tools is a plus.

This position may be filled in the following locations. The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Colorado compensation range: $62,710 to $91,770 annually

Illinois compensation range: $66,180 to $96,850 annually

Washington state compensation range: $66,150 to $96,800 annually

Washington, D.C. compensation range: $71,440 to $104,540 annually
