The Opportunity
The position ofInformatics Technical SpecialistI is within our Core Lab division.
The role is remote, overseeing/managing the projects within the Southwest Region, and will require travel up to 75% within the region.
As an Informatics Technical Specialist, you'll support as a technical expert focused on the end-to-end delivery of the AlinIQ Digital Health applications and at the center of delivering on Abbott's consumer healthcare strategy. Core responsibilities of this role include complex IT implementation, testing, training, and escalation management. Along with the technical aptitude, this role is client-facing, and individuals need to also possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and other soft skills to ensure high client satisfaction.
What You’ll Work On
- Responsible for end-to-end implementation, testing, and training of Abbott Digital applications, focusing on quality and customer satisfaction.
- Apply technical IT and networking knowledge to analyze user needs, gather customer requirements, and design integrated, scalable informatics solutions for clinical diagnostic healthcare customers.
- Must be able to multi-task and coordinate with various departments and stakeholders, including sales reps, lab managers, project managers, IT, HIS/LIS personnel, vendors, contractors, and senior management.
- Serve as an informatics applications expert for junior team members.
- Develop mastery of Abbott processes and lead by example across the Area delivery organization.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Adhere to and promote the Abbott Code of Business Conduct.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Medical or Hospital Informatics, or a related field.
- Minimum1 year of relevant experience in the healthcare industry, or 4 years of relevant IT experienceoutside of healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge of virtual servers, antivirus software, backup systems, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Strong understanding of networking, servers, desktops, internet protocols, and remote access.
- Skilled in Microsoft Windows Server (NT/2000/XP/2003).
- Health and laboratory experience: Education or experience in medical technology or clinical lab science.
- ASCP or CLS (NCA) certification preferred.
- Familiar with lab workflows and operations.
- Experience as a medical technologist is ideal, but other lab experience is acceptable.
