Job Description: Infectious Disease Physician at Essen Health Care

Guided by a population health model of care, Essen offers services through five integrated clinical divisions, including primary and specialty offices, urgent care centers, nursing homes, and house calls for homebound patients. All clinical services are also available via telehealth. Our Care Management division supports patient-centered care through care coordination, complex care management, and addressing health-related social needs.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will perform daily Infectious Disease duties, including but not limited to:

• Review patient medical records, including X-rays, blood work, and lab tests
• Evaluate patients through conversations, interviews, and observations
• Administer or request tests/lab work; analyze patient data and results
• Collaborate with other medical staff to determine treatment plans
• Set patient goals and discuss treatment options
• Establish timelines, tasks, and medical needs
• Analyze medications or therapies to help patients reach their goals
• Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses
• Document patient records and progress
• Counsel patients and address their reactions to treatment
• Provide emotional support and recovery tools
• Educate patients and families about treatment and future plans

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Completion of an approved residency program
• Active medical license in New York State
• Current DEA and DPS registration for prescription writing
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not required
