Job description

Job Title: Infectious Disease Physician

The Department of Internal Medicine at this prestigious medical school is seeking a full-time, board-certified Infectious Disease (ID) Physician to join our practice. This provider will support initiatives to expand services to patients and collaborate on programs and activities conducted by the ID division.

Applicants with credentials supporting the rank of assistant to full professor will be considered. The Division of Infectious Disease focuses on adult care and is involved in population and public health, supporting several local Federally Qualified Health Centers. Our current practice includes five ID physicians and two advanced practice providers. Additionally, our ID division operates a Ryan White HIV program, which offers growth opportunities for individuals interested in enhancing clinical, public health, training, and research efforts. The division aims to establish an Infectious Disease fellowship as part of its strategic goals to expand access to ID care on the Gulf Coast.

We seek applicants with an understanding of medical, educational, clinical, and administrative issues related to Internal Medicine residents and medical students (years 1-4) at a small medical school. Responsibilities include inpatient ID care management (independently and with residents), outpatient clinical activities, and potentially assisting with inpatient general internal medicine teaching services. Successful candidates will support residency program needs and quality improvement initiatives. There are opportunities for career advancement through the academic promotions process.
