MaineGeneral Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant II – Certified to join the Infectious Disease team in Augusta, Maine. This 32-hour weekday schedule offers a consistent day shift, with no nights, weekends, or rotating shifts.

The role supports patients and providers, handles administrative duties, and contributes to high-quality patient care in a mission-driven health system.

Qualifications

• Previous work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certification by an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Associate degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited school.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities.
• Team-focused mindset with a patient-first approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting statistics and preparing patients for visits.
• Prepare patients for visits and assist providers during examinations.
• Assist with basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Communicate observed changes in patient condition to medical staff for assessment.
• Documents patient care provided and maintains records.
• Perform duties including filing, reception, scheduling, scribing, data entry, prior authorization, and patient registration.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering and stocking.
• Keep examination areas orderly and clean.
