Job summary

Carilion Clinic is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist for Infectious Diseases in Roanoke, VA. The role supports the ID clinic, OPAT, HIV and HepC patients, and the specialty pharmacy workflow with dispensing, prior authorizations, and payer interactions.

Applicants should have an ASHP-accredited residency or 3+ years in clinical pharmacy, ACPE-accredited PharmD, and Virginia licensure within 90 days of hire. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by ACPE.
• ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency or 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience.
• Virginia license to practice pharmacy within 90 days of hire; licensure required to perform duties.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Able to budget time, work efficiently, follow procedures with minimal supervision.
• Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support Infectious Diseases clinic: manage OPAT, HIV and HepC patient care.
• Assist ID clinic with medication procurement and program logistics.
• Oversee Specialty Pharmacy: dispensing, order verification, billing and prior authorizations.
• Collaborate with patients, coordinators, PSLs and clinical teams to obtain documentation.
• Document encounters in Carilion systems; provide counseling on diseases and medications.
• Support care management data entry and eligibility/benefit tracking.
• Lead staff training and competency development.
