Job summary
Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights is seeking an Infection Preventionist - RN to lead the campus-wide infection prevention program. You will track infections, analyze trends, and translate data into actionable reports while teaching nurses and CNAs in best practices.
The role supports resident safety across all units and requires strong collaboration with clinical leaders and public health partners. Full-time scheduled days with Monday–Friday hours.
Qualifications
- Current Illinois RN license is required.
- Completion of the CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training Course (or equivalent) within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred: 1 year+ experience as an Infection Preventionist.
- Experience teaching or training staff and familiarity with geriatrics or long-term care.
Responsibilities
- Run the infection prevention program for all units on campus.
- Track infections, analyze data, and produce reports with action plans.
- Educate nurses and CNAs on infection prevention practices.
- Conduct rounds and audits on each unit.
- Lead employee health programs for staff.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, local health department, and regulators.
- Mentor nursing staff and serve as clinical resource for infection questions.
