Qualifications

• 3+ years in an acute facility.
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Nursing, Medical Technology, or Public Health.
• Certification in Infection Prevention within 3 years

Responsibilities

• Identifies and promptly reports epidemiological variations in disease levels and implements prevention recommendations.
• Collaborates with all disciplines to develop and update department standards based on infection control principles.
• Maintains professional competence through education and sets goals for growth.
• Participates in implementing procedures and programs as directed by leadership.
• Conducts ongoing surveillance of infections in patients and HCWs; defines risk factors for transmission.
• Analyzes surveillance data and notifies relevant parties with findings.
• Monitors areas for potential hazards and reports to the Director of Infection Prevention.
• Provides IC education in new employee and departmental orientations.
• Attends hospital and nursing committees; serves as a resource in infection control.
• Works with department managers to develop annual educational calendars.
• Reviews and revises Infection Control Policies on a four-year cycle.
