Job summary

Piedmont Clinic seeks an experienced leader to drive safety and quality performance improvements in Infection Prevention (IP). This role focuses on education, trend analysis, and using Lean methodologies to reduce infections across Piedmont facilities and physician practices.

The position requires strong clinical leadership, a nursing or medical technology background, and advanced degrees in related fields. Collaboration with IP Surveillance and QSS is essential.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure in Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate Licensure (If degree is in nursing)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
  • Master's Degree in Microbiology, Public Health, Biology, Epidemiology, or related field
  • 4 years hospital or clinical quality/performance improvement experience, preferably infection prevention, or 2 years with a Master's degree
  • Licenses/Certifications: RN GA licensure; certified Medical Technologist options; CIC/CPHQ preferred; Lean Six Sigma preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive safety and quality performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing education and address IP practice trends and deficiencies.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture to reduce infections using Lean coaching, tools and data analysis.
  • Manage and support a portfolio of strategic projects via the performance improvement model.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies; assist evaluations of infection prevention practices.

Overview

Based on the recommendations of the medical staff leadership and nursing leadership, this individual is appointed to be responsible for leading and driving safety and quality performance improvement initiatives to provide ongoing education, to address trends and deficiencies in Infection Prevention (IP) practices as identified by the IP Surveillance and Analysis team and set by the system HAI Committee and Piedmont Healthcare QSS. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement in the reduction of infections through use of Lean methodology, coaching, tools, data analysis, reliability, sustainability and spread. Manages and supports a portfolio of strategic projects using the performance improvement model. Ensures all performance improvement activities are in compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies. Assists in evaluations of infection prevention practicesin Piedmont facilities and owned physician office practices.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of a Nursing program with a current license in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology Required and
  • Master's Degree in Microbiology, Public Heath, Biology, Epidemiology, or other related science field Required

Work Experience

  • 4 years of previous work experience in a hospital setting, clinical quality, or performance improvement, preferably in infection prevention OR two (2) years of previous work experience with a Masters degree Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure If the degree is in nursing Upon Hire Required or
  • If a certified Medical Technologist, the certification must be from one of the following: Required
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)-AMT AMT (American Medical Technologists) or
  • ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or
  • AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts)
  • CIC - Certified in Infection Control Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC), Preferred
  • CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification-IASSC Lean Six Sigma Healthcare or QPI Certifications Green and/or Black Belt. Preferred
