Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an Infection Preventionist for the Infection Control department at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit. This full-time, day-shift role supports a comprehensive infection prevention program and collaborates with clinical staff to maintain patient safety.

The position requires RN licensure (Michigan) with preferred certifications including BLS, CBIC, CIC, and MPH. Prior infection prevention experience in acute care is highly valued and expected to drive education,

Qualifications

• Plans, implements, and evaluates infection prevention and control measures.
• Monitors and investigates infections to determine source and control.
• Reviews regulations and guidelines from authorities and professional bodies.
• Develops educational programs/tools on infection prevention and epidemiology.
• Reports infection surveillance and control to public health authorities as required by law.
• Participates in special studies to identify epidemics or assess new products or care delivery.

Job Description

Department: Infection Control

Schedule: 40hrs, Exempt, Day Shift

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and evaluates infection prevention and control measures.
• Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control
• Reviews, analyzes, and implements regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.
• Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
• Reports infection surveillance, prevention and control in formation to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
• Participates in the development of special studies designed to identify unusual epidemic situations or to evaluate the impact of new products, equipment or delivery of patient care. Reports results to Infection Control Committee and other appropriate departments and/or committees.

Qualifications

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) is preferred.
• Certification specializing in Infection Control credentialed from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) is preferred.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing is preferred.
• CIC &/or MPH preferred

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• 3 years of experience preferred.
• RN or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field preferred.
• MPH preferred
• Infection prevention experience in an acute care setting.
