At Valley Regional Hospital, our patients are at the center of everything we do. We’re currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Infection Preventionist & Quality Improvement Specialist (IP/QIS) to join our collaborative and mission-driven team.

As an Infection Preventionist & Quality Improvement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in protecting patients and staff by championing best practices in infection prevention and quality improvement.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, reviewing, and updating infection prevention policies and protocols in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and leadership.
  • Partnering with departments to embed infection prevention principles into day-to-day operations and clinical protocols.
  • Conducting regular, proactive infection prevention rounds across the facility to ensure compliance, provide real-time education, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Observing practices in both clinical and non-clinical settings, gathering data, and providing supportive education to frontline staff.
  • Analyzing findings and collaborating with teams to implement actionable, evidence-based improvements that drive safety and reduce infection risk.
  • Coordinating data analysis related to healthcare-associated infections and effectively sharing feedback across teams to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of infection prevention efforts, outbreak investigations, and consultations using clear and consistent templates.
  • Assisting with the development/annual revision of the written QI Plan.
  • Participating in the development of strategies to perform in-depth data collection and data & process analyses to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Providing input into institutional decision-making and goal setting.
  • Supporting value improvement and patient safety locally, and across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) system through the application of modern improvement thinking to all assigned initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or equivalent experience in a hospital setting (required).
  • Prior experience in infection prevention or hospital epidemiology (preferred).
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA) and the ability to apply them effectively in infection control practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
