Job summary

Cottonwood Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an Infection Preventionist to develop and implement policies governing infections and communicable diseases in a hospital setting in Olathe, KS. The role collaborates with the Employee Health Nurse and other staff to build systems for identifying, reporting, and controlling infections.

Qualified candidates will have an MPH or RN license with BSN, plus five years of clinical or public health disease surveillance experience.

Qualifications

• Masters in public health (MPH) or related field.
• Current RN license with BSN preferred or MPH/epidemiology background.

Responsibilities

• Provides concurrent surveillance of infection control activities.
• Develops and implements infection control measures throughout the hospital.
• Collaborates with Employee Health Nurse and staff as needed.
• Maintains logs of infections and related incidents.
• Monitors hospital infections and evaluates hospital-acquired infection risk.
• Other duties as assigned.

How You\'ll Contribute The Infection preventionist develops and implements policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases. Develops systems for identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases. Also assists Employee Health Nurse and other staff as time/workload permits.

Essential Functions

• Provides concurrent surveillance of infection control activities
• Develops and implements appropriate infection control measures throughout the hospital.
• Provides assistance to/collaboration with the Employee Health Nurse as needed.
• Maintains a log of incidents related to infections and communicable diseases.
• Monitors infections in the hospital and evaluates as to hospital acquired infection.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements Education: Masters in public health (MPH), certified medical technologist, or a BS in microbiology or epidemiology. Requires current RN license with BSN preferred -or-Master\'s in Public Health (MPH), certified medical technologist, or a BS in microbiology or epidemiology. Licenses: Acquires Infection Control Certification within 3 years of employment. Certifications: None Listed

Minimum Work Experience Minimum of five years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting. Computer skills and basic statistical is preferred.
