Job summary

Banner Health Corporate in Mesa, Arizona is seeking an Infection Preventionist to support surveillance, prevention, and education across departments including NICU, Oncology and Pharmacy. Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotation; role involves rounding on units and coordinating infection control activities with clinical staff and leaders.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license with BSN preferred (or MPH/certified technologist) and has hospital-based infection prevention experience;

Qualifications

• Requires a current RN license with BSN preferred, MPH or related degree.
• May hold CIC certification after required progression.
• Minimum two years clinical hospital experience or disease surveillance experience.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required for certain sites.

Responsibilities

• Conducts focused surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and reports to Infection Control Committee.
• Makes recommendations when problems are identified and interprets policies with supervisor.
• Interacts with physicians, nurses, managers and staff as a consultant.
• Enters data into computer, prepares reports, and analyzes surveillance data.
• Initiates epidemiological investigations of infection clusters and cases.
• Assists with continuing infection control education and inservice programs.
• Reviews hospital policies and assists in updating infection control procedures.
• Advises on construction, renovation and environmental rounds for compliance.
• Supports system-wide infection control activities and communicates with internal/external stakeholders.
