Job summary

The Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau is seeking a Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist to monitor HAIs/CAIs, collect and analyze data, and recommend actions to protect residents.

You will educate staff, residents, and families, serve as the IPC resource across departments, and ensure compliance with CDC and state guidelines while maintaining licensure and IPC training requirements.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree) required.
• Active RN license in the applicable state is required.
• Specialized Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training beyond initial nursing education.
• Geriatrics experience preferred.
• State-required IPC certifications or training (e.g., Certified TB Nurse).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates quality of resident care and outcomes related to HAIs and CAIs.
• Collects, prepares, and analyzes HAI data.
• Presents infection data and makes actionable recommendations.
• Monitors staff compliance with infection control standards.
• Prepares and presents education for staff, residents, and families.
• Serves as a resource to all departments and personnel.

Education

Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing)

Licensed/registered RN in applicable state

Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training

Prior experience with geriatrics

Certifications or training per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse)
