Job summary

Gilroy Healthcare Center in Millbrae, CA seeks an Infection Prevention Nurse-IP to lead the hospital's infection control program, overseeing surveillance, prevention, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections.

You will educate staff, monitor public health advisories, and ensure alignment with CDC/OSHA/APIC guidelines while maintaining patient and staff safety in a post-acute care setting.

Qualifications

• California license as RN or LVN in good standing.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, regulations, and infection control guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office/Excel; PCC experience preferred.
• APIC Certification in infection control preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor public health advisories from CDC and other agencies.
• Serve as on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention per CDC guidance.
• Maintain knowledge of infection control trends and employee health practices.
• Work within the scope of license.

Infection Prevention Nurse-IP

Position Summary:

The Infection Control directs managerial functions of planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the Infection Control Program. The IP has the authority to take necessary steps to prevent and control the acquisition and transmission of infectious agents in the patient, staff, and visitor populations. The Infection Prevention (IP) is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections; educating employees about infection control; and developing organizational infection control standards that meet state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies, CDC, OSHA, and APIC guidelines

Qualifications:

• California license as Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in good standing
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities and infection control practices, to include standard/universal precautions and guidelines for antibiotic stewardship
• Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to gather information, document, and report findings
• Good computer skills-including Microsoft Office/Excel, and PCC experience preferred
• APIC Certification in infection control preferred

Responsibilities:

• Serves as designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CDC
• Serves as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations
• Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
• Performs work within the scope of his/her license
• Must be knowledgeable of IP and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
• Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program
