Job summary

Beacon Hill in Denison, TX is seeking an Infection Preventionist (RN/LVN/LPN) to reduce infections by leading the IP program and coordinating with the IDT and Medical Director to promote evidence-based prevention practices.

The successful candidate will hold a TX nursing license and preferably have at least one year of supervisory experience in long-term care, plus completion of an Infection Preventionist course and strong analytical and communication skills to educate staff and monitor

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Nursing School and a current and valid RN/LVN/LPN license in the applicable State.
• Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in a long-term or health care setting is preferred.
• Must complete Infection Preventionist Course and obtain certification
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from department heads, customers, (Patients, family members, physicians, etc.) and the general public.
• Must be detail-oriented
• Must have the ability to adhere to strict deadlines

Responsibilities

• Monitor/Review accuracy, completion, required documentation and appropriate intervention daily
• Track and trend C. Difficile diagnosis using tracking worksheet
• Observe infection control practices and provide on-the-spot education
• Complete weekly observation worksheets and maintain IP binder
• Provide required in-services and coordinate HR/CantexU courses
• Review medical records for timely assessments and notifications
• Manage patient and employee immunizations; ensure timely vaccine testing and documentation
• Enter physician orders when applicable
• Complete recommendations from Pharmacy and Dietician within 72 hours
• Perform other duties as assigned
