Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ is seeking an Infection Preventionist to join the Infection Control team. The role focuses on supporting the infection prevention program, ensuring regulatory compliance, and analyzing infection data to guide improvement initiatives.

The IP will educate staff, develop and refine policies, participate in committee work, investigate outbreaks, and contribute to performance improvement while maintaining on-call coverage as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Nursing, or health science-related field with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care facility.
• CIC certification is highly preferred and must be obtained within five years of entering the role.

Responsibilities

• Program Support: support daily operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Regulatory Compliance: adhere to Department of Health regulations, Joint Commission, CDC/NHSN, and others.
• Data & Surveillance: collect, analyze, and present data to identify infection trends.
• Staff Education: educate healthcare workers on Infection Prevention practices.
• Policy Development: develop and refine clinical infection control policies.
• Committee Collaboration: participate in Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
• Outbreak Investigation: investigate clusters and outbreaks and implement corrective actions.
• Performance Improvement: engage in quality improvement activities to elevate safety standards.
• On-Call Availability: maintain on-call coverage as determined by the Director.
