Job summary

Apploi is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility's infection control program under the Director of Nursing. You will conduct surveillance, analyze data, educate staff, and implement control measures to prevent and manage infections.

You will collaborate with nursing personnel, physicians, and department managers, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Strong leadership and teaching abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure (RN or LVN) required.
• Completed nursing program or equivalent.
• Advanced education in infection control.
• Preferably a minimum of one year in infection control practice.
• Progressive nursing experience with leadership and teaching abilities.
• Demonstrated skill in management principles of planning, organizing, and directing.

Responsibilities

• Infection Preventionist performs daily infection prevention and control activities.
• Performs surveillance to identify infections in residents and staff and monitor outbreaks.
• Collaborates with department managers to oversee surveillance and outbreak management.
• Tracks infection trends and reports infections and outbreaks to appropriate agencies.
• Reviews medical records for infection identification and transmission-based precautions.
• Leads rounds assessing at-risk resident populations and PPE usage.
• Identifies infection control concerns and recommends corrective actions.
• Monitors staff compliance with infection prevention practices and outbreak preparedness.
• Oversees TB and bloodborne pathogen prevention and staff immunizations.
• Chairs the infection prevention committee and maintains policies and procedures.
• Assists with staff education on infection prevention and control.
