Job summary

Mont Marie Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Holyoke, MA is seeking an Infection Prevention Nurse to lead infection prevention and control efforts in a 84-bed Sub-Acute and Long-Term Care facility.

This full-time role requires an active nursing license, BLS, specialized training in infection prevention, and strong analytical and educational skills to train staff and collaborate with leadership.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license in good standing.
• Valid BLS Certification (CPR) required.
• Completion of specialized training in infection prevention and control.
• CIC certification preferred.
• Strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, investigate, monitor, and report trends in healthcare-associated infections.
• Collaborate with facility leadership and clinical teams to implement prevention practices.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with infection prevention policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and evaluate infection control initiatives to reduce risk and improve safety.
• Provide staff education on infection prevention and adherence to protocols.
• Participate in the QAA committee to support quality improvement.
• Conduct surveillance activities, audits, and assessments of infection control.
• Serve as a resource and expert on infection prevention guidance.

Responsibilities for an Infection Prevention Nurse:

• Identify, investigate, monitor, and report trends in healthcare-associated infections to support timely intervention and prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with facility leadership, clinical teams, and staff to implement and sustain effective infection prevention and control practices.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with all infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate infection control initiatives to reduce risk and improve resident and staff safety.
• Provide staff with education and training on infection prevention practices to ensure awareness and adherence to established protocols.
• Participate in the facility’s Quality Assessment and Assurance (QAA) committee to support continuous improvement efforts.
• Conduct surveillance activities, audits, and assessments to monitor infection control effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Serve as a resource and subject-matter expert on infection prevention guidance across the organization.

Qualifications for an Infection Prevention Nurse:

• Current nursing license in good standing.
• Valid BLS Certification (CPR) required.
• Associate degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field required.
• Completion of specialized training in infection prevention and control is required.
• Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) preferred.
• Strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to educate and influence staff at all levels.
