Job summary

HMR Veterans Services seeks a skilled Infection Control RN to provide care to veteran residents under medical direction, with emphasis on infection control and individualized treatment plans in a long-term care environment.

The role focuses on tailoring care to resident needs, collaborating with the care team, and upholding facility policies while ensuring compliance with state requirements.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved RN program.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an RN.
• Current, unencumbered, active RN license in the state of practice.
• Infection control certification preferred (e.g., WCC, CWCN).
• Experience serving Veteran populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents and review records to distinguish normal from abnormal findings and initiate physician referrals.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team to develop assessments and skin care/treatment plans.
• Implement and maintain infection control policies and procedures and communicate them to physicians, residents, and families.
• Provide direct nursing care in emergencies and when residents are ill or disabled.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, rehab activities, and transitions of care.
• Educate residents and families on infection prevention.
• Maintain positive relationships with physicians, consultants, health professionals, and families.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
