Job summary

St. Joseph's Health seeks an Infection Preventionist to assess daily surveillance, identify high-risk infections, and oversee isolation protocols. You will review records, manage data in CDRSS, and coordinate placement per protocol across the system.

You’ll develop educational programs, collaborate with care teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and CBIC requirements, contributing to patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New Jersey or able to obtain licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Prefer at least 1 year in Infection Control or APIC course attendance.
• CIC certification preferred; required after two years or within 5 years of employment.
• Recertification every 5 years per CBIC.

Responsibilities

• Daily surveillance of documents to identify high-risk cases.
• Examine medical records for evidence of possible Hospital Acquired Infection.
• Manage data and monitor staff responses, including isolation initiation.
• Conduct targeted surveillance to detect outbreaks and report to authorities.
• Enter demographics into CDRSS and coordinate patient placement per protocol.
• Develop educational programs aligned with policy, guidelines, and accreditation.
• Collaborate with direct care teams to improve practice and safety.
• Support infection prevention across all sites in the health system.
