Job summary

Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Infection Control Nurse to lead the facility’s infection prevention program. The role requires an RN with experience in long-term care, knowledge of epidemiology and aseptic technique, and current CPR certification.

You will develop policies, monitor practices, and report to the Director of Nursing Services. Expect collaboration with committees and emphasis on resident safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
• 2 years or more experience preferably in a long term care facility.
• Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/universal precautions.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Monitor infection control practices to ensure staff follow standard operating procedures for exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Visit isolated residents to ensure isolation precautions and aseptic technique are followed.
• Participate in Infection Control Committee meetings and provide reports on infections and TB assessment protocols.
• Develop and maintain infection control policies, staff training, and employee health programs.
