Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Monroe, NC, is hiring an Early Head Start Teacher for infant and toddler classrooms. The role provides nurturing supervision, developmentally appropriate activities, and secure relationships to support children’s milestones.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm, 40 hours weekly. Starting rate up to $18 per hour, with benefits including PSLF eligibility, BCBSNC insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement plan, and paid leave.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
• Infant/Toddler CDA credential preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with infants, toddlers, or preschool children preferred.
• Pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test required; random drug screenings may be required.

• Provide nurturing care and supervision for infants and toddlers.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and routines.
• Develop secure, responsive relationships with children.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Observe and assess children’s developmental progress.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s growth and daily activities.
• Conduct parent conferences and home visits as required.
• Collaborate with classroom staff and support specialists.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to actively supervise infants and toddlers, frequently bend, kneel, sit on the floor, lift and carry children, and move throughout classroom and outdoor environments. Position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
