Under the guidance of the Childcare Program Director, the Infant-Toddler Assistant Teacher is responsible for an assigned group of infant-toddlers. Responsibilities include following the group daily schedule, attending to the care of each assigned child, clean & disinfect toys, room cleanliness, implementing age-appropriate activities, communication to parents, making sure state regulations are followed and working with other staff cooperatively. It is our goal to nurture in a fun, loving, positive manner, in which a child can grow and become sure of themselves and their abilities through physical and social learning.
Responsibilities
Be accountable for the health and safety of each participant in the following ways:
- Changing diapers and assisting with feeding children
- Following daily schedule
- Administer minor first aid and follow all emergency medical procedures, complete necessary medical/accident reports, and advise Childcare Director
- Supervision and engagement always and Monitor patio and outdoor time
- Make sure safe sleep and safe feeding practices are followed.
Execute The Daily Curriculum
- Role model positive interactions
- Develop speech, manners, kindness, and empathy.
- Provide play with a purpose and imagination
- Build positive relationships with by:
- Engaging in daily interaction.
- Teaching children sharing, caring and mutual respect.
- Encourage, guide, and evaluate children.
- Helping children maintain a positive self-image.
- Listening to and talking with children.
- Helping children deal with both positive and negative feelings.
- Offering children opportunities to initiate activities as well as to take part in the decision-making process.
Be responsible for the care of all equipment and classroom maintenance:
- Put away and clean all play equipment and toys daily.
- Check and maintain all furniture for safety and cleanliness.
- Follow daily cleaning assignment schedule per Childcare Director
- Ensure you are following state regulations and guidelines
Identify and complete required training hours (12 per school year per the NJ State Office of Licensing)
Familiarize yourself with the information, policies and procedures book handbook
