Job summary

Prairie Knights is hiring a Head Start Teacher to provide nurturing, age-appropriate activities for infants and toddlers in our center-based program. You will follow lesson plans, maintain daily reports, and ensure a clean, safe learning environment while supporting families and Lakota/Dakota culture.

The role requires delivering care, coordinating with families, and meeting Head Start requirements; shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with related training and potential travel to nearby

Qualifications

• Associates of Science in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate (CDA)
• Will consider High School Diploma/GED with one (1) year of experience in child care setting.
• Driver’s License Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment by following injury-prevention practices, proper hygiene, and routine sanitization of toys and equipment.
• Provide responsive care, including feeding infants and toddlers according to individual schedules and nutritional needs.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and weekly lesson plans that support physical, cognitive, and creative development, with individualized documentation of each child’s progress.
• Foster curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity through hands-on activities, exploration, and positive guidance at the child’s eye level.
• Promote positive interactions, empathy, and respectful behavior by modeling appropriate problem-solving and communication skills.
• Build positive relationships with families, encourage participation in program activities, and participate in required meetings and reporting.
• Will be required to perform other duties as assigned.
