Job summary

Bank Street Family Center in New York City seeks an Associate Teacher to support an infant/toddler classroom under the supervision of a lead teacher. You will help implement developmentally appropriate, child-centered activities that foster exploration, discovery, and a positive self-image.

The role requires working toward or holding a Master’s in Early Childhood Education and eligibility for NYS Assistant Teacher Certification, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Must have or be working towards a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Must qualify for NYS Assistant Teacher Certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential for parent/teacher collaboration.
• Strong organizational skills are required to document student progress.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety and well-being by supervising children during all activities.
• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Support stimulation of exploration, creativity, and discovery through lessons.
• Collaborate with parents to promote understanding of child growth and development.
• Communicate with parents verbally and in writing throughout the year.
• Assist in writing classroom blogs/newsletters and conference reports.
• Document and maintain student records, including development notes.
• Attend trainings, meetings and professional development workshops.
• Engage in reflective supervision with the lead teacher.
• Support parent/teacher conferences and meetings during or outside hours.
• Help maintain a clean, safe classroom and collaborate with staff.
• Follow Bank Street College and NYC DoH/Bureau of Day Care guidelines.
