Job summary

Rocky Mountain Prep Berkeley is seeking an assistant teacher for our Baby Bees Childcare Center. You will collaborate with lead teachers, provide developmentally appropriate activities, and help maintain a safe, nurturing environment for infants and toddlers.

The role emphasizes building relationships with children and families, daily communication via Brightwheel, and adherence to health, safety, and licensing guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and hold children and sustain daily activities including walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, squatting, reaching, bending, and crouching.
• A deep understanding of babies and toddlers and a love for working with them.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Pass a background check.
• Reliable transportation.
• Current immunization record and physician health screen.
• History of working with infants and toddlers and understanding of child development.
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and responsive learning environment for infants and toddlers between 12 weeks and three years.
• Partner with lead teachers and other assistant teachers to supervise and care for a classroom of children.
• Support with meals and cleanup, diaper changes and toileting, and individualized rest and play.
• Engage with children during lessons and provide age-appropriate enriching activities to foster curiosity and support growth.
• Collaborate with families to understand daily care needs and develop a classroom care schedule.
• Keep accurate, concise records.
• Hold conferences and events with families to discuss growth and development.
• Communicate with families daily, in person and via Brightwheel.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, state, and licensing guidelines.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development.
• Follow center policies and maintain a PDIS profile and development plan.
• Open/close classrooms and assist in other classrooms as needed.
• Other duties as required.

Role Mission

At Rocky Mountain Prep, our Baby Bees Childcare Center understands that childcare and school are synonymous, early learning takes many shapes and forms, and relationships matter. These three foundational beliefs guide all that we do. We know that relationships create the foundation for learning and trust in young children, and we have implemented continuity of care to keep classroom groups and teachers together for multiple years. We are looking for an assistant teacher who will focus deeply on building these relationships with children and families. An assistant teacher is responsible for coordinating with the lead teacher to provide high-quality care, implement developmentally appropriate curricular plans, and maintain a safe and nurturing environment as they manage the day-to-day needs of the classroom. Our goal is to maintain a strong, consistent, and thoughtful community together!

In this role, you will:

• Partner with lead teachers and other assistant teachers to supervise and care for a classroom of children

• Possess a growth mindset to maintain professional relationships with staff and families effectively
• Collaborate with families to understand the daily care needs of individual children and develop and follow a classroom care schedule to meet those needs
• Keep accurate, concise records
• Hold conferences and events with families to share information regarding child growth and development, as well as partner together to plan ahead
• Communicate with families daily, both in person and through Brightwheel
• Ensure compliance with all requirements, conforming to health, safety, state, and licensing guidelines

• Engage meaningfully in ongoing training and professional development as needed to stay current with center requirements and develop best practices

• Follow all center policies and procedures, including maintaining an up-to-date PDIS profile and professional development plan

• Follow procedures to open or close classrooms at designated times and flexibly assist in another classroom as needed
• Other duties as required

GOALS

• Manage and guide high-quality early childhood programming to support cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development
• Provide excellent care and communication to children and families
• Demonstrate skilled judgment and decision-making to care for children ranging from 12 weeks to three years

Salary

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position starting at $20/hr
