Job summary

Meeting Street in Rhode Island seeks an Infant Teacher to join our 40-hour-per-week program. This role focuses on creating a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that supports infants’ development and learning.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, 2+ years of experience with children under 5, and CPR/First Aid certification. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field with experience and 12 early childhood course credits.
  • 2+ years’ experience caring for children under age 5 preferred.
  • RIELDS Foundations of Early Education and RIELDS Preschool Classrooms: Curriculum and Planning; or willingness to obtain certifications within the first year of employment.
  • ITERS/ECERS training or willingness to complete the courses within the first nine months of employment.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid training/certification.
  • Inclusive childcare setting experience.
  • Physical requirements: diapering, dressing, lifting up to 50 pounds (100 with assistance).
  • Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a safe, welcoming classroom that reflects students’ families, cultures and community.
  • Facilitates interactions for emotional, social and developmental growth.
  • Implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum with accommodations as needed.
  • Supervises and develops teacher assistants, volunteers, interns and students.
  • Monitors child progress through observation and data collection; informs curriculum.
  • Supports accreditation and licensing standards (NAEYC, Brightstars, RI DHS and RI DOE).
  • Maintains supervision of children per licensing ratios and headcounts every 15 minutes.

Meeting Street is currently looking for an Infant Teacher for 40 hours per week.

Duties:
  • Provides a classroom that is safe, welcoming and reflects the student’s family, culture and community.
  • Facilitates interactions among children to provide opportunities for emotional, social and developmental growth.
  • Creates and implements a curriculum that promotes diversity and active learning by providing a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences, making appropriate accommodations and modifications as necessary using RI Early Learning Development Standards as guidance.
  • Assigns, monitors, addresses and evaluates teacher assistants, volunteers, Interns and student’s duties and responsibilities and assists in their development as early childhood professionals.
  • Monitors the developmental progress of each child through observation and data collection using Teaching Strategies Gold or other data collecting software as necessary. Uses such data to inform and develop curriculum.
  • Actively participates in and supports efforts to maintain NAEYC accreditation, Brightstars quality rating, RI Department of Human Services (DHS) and RI Department of Education licensing regulations.
  • Always Maintains supervision of children (indoor/outdoor) using licensing ratios and headcounts every 15 minutes.

Requirements
  • Must have an Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, or in a related field with experience and 12 early childhood course credits.

  • Lift, transfer, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds independently or up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another staff member or adaptive equipment frequently.
  • Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
