Job summary

The Montessori Academy is hiring an Infant Lead Teacher to join our Montessori program. The successful candidate will maintain a safe, nurturing environment for infants, aligned with Montessori principles and our Portrait of a Graduate.

The role requires a Montessori credential (M.A.C.T.E.) and prior Montessori classroom experience. Position is full time, 10-month with summer opportunities, 40 hours per week, and a focus on collaboration with families and staff to support children's growth and

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in or have a Montessori teaching credential from a M.A.C.T.E. accredited training program for the age group of children assigned.
  • Experience working in a Montessori environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an organized, safe, and nurturing environment for children that supports their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Prepare and maintain the classroom environment in which the Montessori approach is implemented.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to design and implement appropriate instruction.
  • Maintain the classroom to support Montessori teaching methods and demonstrate lifelong learning and respect for the natural world.
  • Grow professionally through decision-making and collaborating with families, children, and coworkers.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all children.
  • Present oneself as a professional to interact comfortably with children.

Education

Montessori teaching credential (M.A.C.T.E. accredited)
Bachelor's degree (preferred)

An Infant/Toddler Credential and experience working in a Montessori classroom environment are required. This position is full time, 10-month with opportunities to work during the summer, and 40 hours per week.

General Description of the Job

The Infant Teacher is a Montessori professional and an integral part of the Parent-Child-Teacher triangle that frames our Portrait of a Graduate.

  • Will provide an organized, safe, and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Is responsible for preparing and maintaining the environment in which the Montessori approach to education is implemented and incorporates TMA’s mission, culture, goals, values, philosophies, polices, and practices.
  • Will work with other TMA teachers as a team to assist in the design and implementation of appropriate instruction.
  • Will be accountable for maintaining the overall classroom environment to support Montessori teaching methods and demonstrate a devotion to lifelong learning and respect for the natural world.
  • Will have opportunities to grow professionally through decision-making and working collaboratively to maintain positive relationships with families, children, and coworkers.
  • Must always ensure the safety and supervision of all children.
  • Will dress in a manner that reflects their role as a professional and allows them to interact comfortably with children.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
  • Be enrolled in or have a Montessori teaching credential from a M.A.C.T.E. accredited training program for the age group of children assigned.
  • Experience teaching in a Montessori environment.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • Knowledge of development, safety, and regulatory issues surrounding the age group of children assigned.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students with learning differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, multi-task, and be flexible.
  • Must be able to work in the United States. We cannot provide visa sponsorships.
