Overview

The Infant Hearing Screener is responsible for performing hearing screens on neonates prior to discharge. He/she is also responsible for documenting screening results in the medical record and entering screening data into the Hearing Screen Computer database. Additional responsibilities may include patient care tech and secretarial tasks within the Pediatric Therapy and Audiology department.

Qualifications

Education: HS/GED required.

Experience: Healthcare experience required.

• Able to work independently to complete procedures consistently.
• Complete training with demonstration of competency-based skills for assigned tasks.
• Willing to follow hospital policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Reliable and mature communication and interaction with hospital and medical staff.
• Able to meet physical demands of screening (e.g., standing, walking, handling equipment for prolonged periods, reading small print, understanding English).
• Able to remember precise screening protocol instructions.
• Able to operate electrical equipment safely and handle small objects for infant ear and head placement during screenings.
