JOB OVERVIEW:
Joseph J. Peters Institute (JJPI) is seeking a candidate to serve as an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician on our IMPACT (Intervention, Grants Management, Prevention, Admissions, Community Outreach, and Training) Team to support the direct clinical needs of a new grant-funded infant and early childhood mental health program. This position will serve mothers and their young children referred from partner organizations providing home visiting and early childhood education services. Responsibilities include receiving referrals, completing intake evaluations, and providing individual, group, and dyadic family therapy. Therapy will be provided at least in part through employing several evidence-informed therapies including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent Child Care (PC-CARE). Training in these models will be provided. This employee will be responsible for recordkeeping in alignment with JJPI’s clinical and administrative recordkeeping procedures and with grant requirements. This is a full-time position. Services will be delivered at community-based locations in Philadelphia and in participants’ homes. This position is a three-year grant-funded position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the highest quality clinical services to all participants of JJPI’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health program.
- Provide individual and dyadic/family therapy at partner locations in West Philadelphia, North, and Northeastern Philadelphia using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent Child Care (PC-CARE) interventions.
- Use available electronic health record reports and other data tracking tools to monitor caseload and ensure meeting required productivity for clinical services.
- Conduct evaluations of referred participants.
- Regularly consult with partner organization staff and other parties involved in the participant’s care.
- Complete grant-related documentation, including the collection and submission of data and narrative descriptions of services provided as well as a summary of outcome measures.
- Understand and communicate with other programs within JJPI and partner organizations and work to foster a collaborative team approach across all programs.
- Administer psychometric measures at intake and during the course of therapy. Enter data into databases as required by JJPI procedures and grant requirements.
- Help support periodic progress reporting to the granting agency.
- Work closely with staff from partner organizations.
- Provide informal clinical consultation to partner staff on mental health-related issues.
- Serve on treatment/staffing/consultation teams with partner organization staff as needed.
- Participate in case management activities that support participants’ paths toward healing and recovery as needed.
- Attend clinical meetings and scheduled supervisions.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with community agencies and organizations.
- Maintain clinical records and complete paperwork in accordance with agency and grant requirements according to the following guidelines:
- Make initial contact with participants within two business days of assignment.
- Complete an initial treatment plan within the first two visits of participant contact.
- Complete updated treatment plans as needed and at a minimum once every 180 days.
- Complete clinical progress notes within two days of session with participant.
- Complete case management progress notes within five days of activity.
- Follow up appropriately with participants who have missed a session and continue appropriate outreach.
- Complete discharge summary within 48 hours of termination date.
- Complete and submit utilization reports (case management and clinical hours) at the end of each week.
- Maintain compliance with guidelines and requirements of various funders.
- Work effectively with other staff and contribute to the development of a team approach to treatment.
- Promote the agency in interactions with other agencies and professionals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability and willingness to travel to locations throughout the City of Philadelphia
- Bilingual in Spanish/English and/or other languages is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, daily access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the City of Philadelphia to deliver services in home or school/educational settings
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree from an accredited program in a clinical field such as social work, psychology, counseling, etc.
EXPERIENCE:
- Interest and/or experience in infant and early childhood mental health required
- Strongly Preferred: Two to three years of clinical experience with populations served, including young children
- Preferred: Experience with TF-CBT and/or PCIT (training will be provided to clinicians who are not yet trained in these modalities)
- Preferred: Independent practice license, license eligible, or actively working towards clinical licensure
SALARY GRADE: 18
