Job summary

LeafSpring School of Hanover in Mechanicsville, VA is seeking an Assistant Infant Teacher to support a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom for babies. You will work closely with the Lead Teacher to implement play-based activities and help manage routines.

As part of a dedicated team, you will document children's progress for families, participate in ongoing training, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment. This role offers steady hours and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA or ECE coursework preferred but not required.
• Prior daycare or preschool experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including story time, meals, outdoor play, and rest.
• Assist with lesson and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests.
• Supervise transitions and group activities to ensure safety.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies.
• Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for families and teaching team.
• Provide age-appropriate support depending on assigned classroom.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create an inclusive early childhood learning environment.
