Job summary

Chesapeake Montessori in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Infant classroom. You will support the lead teacher and help nurture early development in a warm, family-oriented environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to pass background checks, and prior early childhood experience; Montessori experience is preferred. The role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with hourly pay of $16–$17 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activities that encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
