Lago Vista ISD is looking for a loving and qualified caretaker for The Little Vikings Learning Center. This is a part-time position and flexibility is key as you will be working where needed.

The Little Vikings Learning Center is a premiere childcare facility that provides Lago Vista ISD employees and the community with a high quality, affordable childcare option. Our mission is to provide exemplary learning, play, and social opportunities for all children enrolled in The Little Vikings Learning Center. Little Vikings offers a small and supportive work environment, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package to all employees.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Become Child and Baby CPR Certified (Training will be provided to successful candidate, if necessary.)
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
  • Be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Participate in 24 hours of annual paid training
  • Be able to meet all Texas Health & Human Services requirements for background checks and fingerprinting

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents
  • Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience

Experience

  • Some experience in a childcare setting preferred

The Little Vikings Learning Center operates on the school district teacher calendar with caregivers working 190 days during the school year (August - May). Regular caregiver pay is annualized and paid in equal monthly payments over 12 months to ensure that our employees receive regular, dependable compensation during times when The Little Vikings Learning Center is closed. Our Little Vikings employees also participate in the Texas Teacher Retirement System (TRS), the pension trust fund that provides service and disability retirement, as well as death and survivor benefits, to eligible Texas public education employees and their beneficiaries.

Lago Vista ISD employee benefits also include

  • HEALTHCARE CONTRIBUTION: Lago Vista ISD contributes $445 per month towards the monthly premium for State healthcare plans.
  • TERM LIFE INSURANCE COVERAGE: Lago Vista ISD provides all eligible employees a $15,000 term life insurance policy. The cost of this policy is paid for 100% by Lago Vista ISD. This is a term life policy that is in effect while you are employed in Lago Vista ISD.
  • TUITION-FREE K-12 STUDENT ATTENDANCE: Non-resident Lago Vista ISD employees receive tuition-free attendance for children who attend a District school as an out-of-district transfer student.
  • EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Lago Vista ISD offers a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program through Alliance Work Partners. This completely confidential program provides employees with access to a 24-Hour Counseling Line, Face-to-Face Counseling (up to three (3) sessions per incident), the SafeRide reimbursement benefit, LawAccess legal and financial planning consultations (one per issue, per year), and unlimited telephonic and online health coaching through WellCoach. Clinical services cover employees, their household members and dependents, and retirees.
  • TRAVEL BENEFIT: If an employee travels more than 100 miles from home and requires emergency assistance, Lago Vista ISD provides a group travel coverage through Dearborn National.
  • WELLNESS PROGRAM: Our Vikings Working~Well Wellness Program, administered by Edwards Risk Management , takes a holistic approach to health management and offers a fall and spring semester wellness campaign.
