US Director of Field Application Engineering

In this role you will serve as the Industry Application Engineer (IAE) for ABB’s Electrification business within the Automotive and Battery Industries along with our NASCAR partnership. You will provide technical support to consulting engineers, end users, EPCs, and design-build customers, helping to ensure ABB products and solutions are preferred or accepted in project specifications. Additionally, you will be the primary technical support for the NASCAR account. You will collaborate closely with the local sales team and the NASCAR team and should possess expertise in applying MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and arc flash mitigation technologies.

This role will be able to work remotely (#LI-Remote) and requires the ability to travel an estimated 50%.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Develop and implement technical solutions for customer applications in the Automotive, Battery and NASCAR Partnership domain.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical support during pre-sales activities.
- Create and conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and technical presentations for customers and internal teams.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Work closely with the Product Marketing and Agile teams to provide feedback on product performance and suggest improvements.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and standards to ensure our solutions remain competitive.

Qualifications for the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A Master’s degree is a plus.
12+ years of experience in a technical support or application engineering role within the electrical industry.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and applications.
Previous experience in a customer facing role.
Proficient in the battery/automotive manufacturing industry.
Ability to travel, estimated 50% of time
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
